If there's one thing Bushwood Spirits knows how to do, it's show up in style—especially when it comes to a Caddyshack-themed golf event. This spring, we had the pleasure of returning as the official whiskey sponsor of the 24th Annual Caddyshack Golf Invitational, held at the iconic World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Florida. Let us tell you: it was unforgettable. If you weren’t there, you missed a hell of a time—but lucky for you, we took notes.
Golf Heaven in St. Augustine
Picture this: two pristine courses—the legendary King & Bear and the always-fun Slammer & Squire. Add over 500 golf lovers from all corners of the country, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for one of the most memorable weekends in golf. Whether you were a first-timer or a seasoned Caddyshack veteran, the energy was electric from the start.
The World Golf Village is the ideal backdrop for a weekend packed with history, tradition, good-hearted competition, and, of course, damn good cocktails.
Pre-Golf Festivities: Loosening Up (and Pouring Up)
Before clubs were even swung, the early days of the event were all about registration, warming up, and easing into what we like to call "party mode." These opening days set the tone—casual mixers, handshakes turning into hugs, and the kind of conversations that only come from seeing familiar faces you haven’t caught up with since last year’s shenanigans.
We had a blast reconnecting with returning players and meeting new faces. Everyone was buzzing about the tournament, asking about the Bushwood cocktails, and even wearing our Bushwood Spirits hats that we gave out as complimentary merch the year before!
Bushwood's Big Moment on Hole 11
Now let’s talk about Hole 11 on the King & Bear. This was Bushwood territory, and we made sure it felt like it.
With a custom setup designed to keep the vibes high and the spirits higher, we served up two signature cocktails: The Tasty Lacey and The Billy Baroo. Named intentionally to align with two iconic characters from Caddyshack, these drinks weren’t just clever—they were dangerously good.
-
The Tasty Lacey: A bright, fruity whiskey cocktail made with Long Ball Gold 7-Year Bourbon, fresh lemon, strawberry, a touch of club soda.
-
The Billy Baroo: A bold, citrussy twist on an Old Fanshioned, starring our Stillwater Rye, 7-Year Whiskey, fresh lemon juice, black berry, and muddled mint.
They were a hit. Word traveled fast, and soon Hole 11 was less of a golf stop and more of a pilgrimage. People lingered, laughed, toasted with strangers, and tried to convince us to give them the recipes. (We won’t. Yet.)
Bill Murray & The Murray Brothers: The Heart of It All
Let’s be real: the Caddyshack Invitational wouldn’t be what it is without Bill Murray and his legendary brothers. Their energy is contagious, their humor is nonstop, and their love for Bushwood? Let’s just say we’re blushing.
Seeing Bill & his brothers work a crowd is like watching a maestro conduct an orchestra of chaos. One minute we're cracking jokes with a foursome on the tee box, the next we're putting back a Tasty Lacey and giving a toast to no one in particular. The Murray brothers bring this mix of comedy, heart, and unpredictability that keeps the entire event feeling like a movie you never want to end.
When the Sun Goes Down: Evening Entertainment
Once the golf bags were packed away, the real party began. Each evening brought its own flavor—live music, a killer buffet with all the fixings, and conversations that stretched long into the night. We bumped elbows with golf legends, celebrities, industry friends, and more than a few new Bushwood fans.
There was dancing. There was toasting. There was several people who may have one one-too-many Billy Baroo's. The vibe was pure joy—a laid-back, come-as-you-are, laugh-until-you-snort kind of night. Just the way we like it.
A Weekend to Remember
The best part? This event never takes itself too seriously. Sure, it’s a golf tournament. But it’s also a celebration—of friendship, family, comedy, community, and cocktails. It’s what we’re all about at Bushwood.
Every swing, every sip, every story told over a shared pour of bourbon or vodka—that’s what makes the Caddyshack Golf Invitational so special. We’re honored to be part of this incredible tradition, and we’re already brainstorming cocktail ideas for next year (Spackler's Revenge, anyone?).
Until then, cheers to everyone who stopped by Hole 11, raised a glass with us, and made this year’s event one we’ll never forget.
We’ll see you in 2026, Caddyshack crew. Save us a tee time and a spot at the afterparty.
